The name Silk City evolved from a city in the state of New Jersey called Paterson. In the early 1900's, Paterson was one of the first industrial cities to be recognized for its natural falls, which at that time powered many of the cities silk mill com­panies.

Thus, evoking the city's national name The Silk City! The city was generating enormous amounts of attention, which lead it to be one of the many cities to be considered as the capital of the United States during the Industrial Era.

During the period of choosing a name for the company, we decided to associate our company with the following traits: strength, elegance and dedication as well as a touch of historical greatness! By doing these few things we are able to show our fond appreciation for our country, state, and city.

Silk City Exchange was founded in the year 2000. It was founded by John R. Butler & Harrison L.
